15 new COVID-19 cases in London area since Friday, no deaths | CBC News

Recent developments:

What’s the latest situation for the London area?

The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) posted 15 new COVID-19 cases for the region since Friday, including seven cases on Saturday, five on Sunday and three Monday. The seven-day rolling average for daily cases is at seven.

There were no deaths reported over the weekend. There have been three COVID-related deaths in the health region so far in July, with two people having received no vaccine and one person having received one dose of a vaccine, according to the MLHU. There have been 229 deaths since the pandemic began in Middlesex-London.

There were 22 recoveries reported since Friday, with 47 known active cases in the region.

There were no new confirmed cases of the delta variant of concern for Middlesex-London, at the time of publication. Since the first delta variant was confirmed in late May, there have been 73 cases total.

Outbreak at Victoria Hospital

London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Victoria Hospital in the B7-200 Adult Inpatient Mental Health unit. The hospital network says fewer than five cases are connected with the outbreak.

The LHSC says they are caring for six patients with COVID-related illnesses, including five or fewer in critical care.

There are currently no staff members who have recently tested positive for the virus.

COVID-19 across the region and beyond

Southwestern Public Health reported three new COVID-19 cases for Eglin-Oxford since Friday and no additional deaths. There are 14 known ongoing cases in the region.

Huron Perth Public Health posted one new COVID-19 cases on Monday and no deaths. There are 14 active cases in the health region.
